D League
Regular Season Round 61: Iowa E. - Canton C. 95-104
Date: March 16, 2012
The race for the NBA Development League’s Eastern Conference title is up for grabs, and the Canton Charge are a big part of it. Alan Anderson scored a game-high 27 points and Luke Harangody poured in 19 to lead the Charge to 104-95 win over the Iowa Energy on Friday at Wells Fargo Arena. Canton’s fourth straight win pushed the Charge (23-18) into a first-place tie with Iowa and Springfield in the East. Canton has nine games, while Iowa and Springfield each have 11. Frank Hassell scored 18 points off the bench for the Charge. Kyle Gibson finished with 11 points and Quinton Ross added 10. Canton will host Erie tonight at Canton’s Memorial Civic Center. The Charge reacquired guard Antoine Agudio and waived guard Eric Hayes before Friday’s game. Agudio had not played since Feb. 22 because of a thumb injury to his left (non-shooting) hand. The Charge injury-waived the Hofstra product on March 5 to make room on the roster for the acquisition of Ross. Being injury-waived is the closest thing the D-League has to an injury list, since the team maintains the player’s rights. Agudio was averaging 11.8 points and shooing an NBA Development League-best 56.8 percent from the 3-point line. In the five games before getting injured, he averaged 21.2 points and shot a ridiculous 79.2 percent from 3. Hayes played six games for the Charge. The University of Maryland product averaged 1.7 points in sparse minutes. His departure basically leaves the Charge without a backup point guard to T.J. Campbell. *Courtesy of www.cantonrep.com
