There was an upset in Porlamar where 4th placed Guaiqueries (13-11) were edged by eighth ranked Guaros (7-14) 87-85 on Friday. The guests trailed by 2 points at the halftime before their 46-42 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. Guaros held Guaiqueries to an opponent 0.0 percent shooting from the field compared to 0.0 percent accuracy of the winners. It was a great evening for American forward John Millsap (198-82, college: UTSA) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 19 points and 10 rebounds. His fellow American import forward Jermaine Walker (198-77, college: Miami, FL) helped adding 20 points. Millsap is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. American guard Darius Adams (182-89, college: Indianapolis, agency: Warren Sports International) responded with 36 points (!!!) and 6 rebounds and the former international forward Hernan Salcedo (198-80) produced a double-double by scoring 12 points, 12 rebounds and 6 assists. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Guaros maintains eighth place with 7-14 record. Loser Guaiqueries keep the fourth position with 11 games lost. Guaros will face league's second-placed Cocodrilos in Caracas in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Guaiqueries will play at home against the league's leader Marinos and will have a slim chance for a victory.
