Regular Season Round 61: Tulsa 66ers - Springfield A. 106-97
Date: March 16, 2012
With time ticking down for the Tulsa 66ers to make a push for the postseason, head coach Dale Osbourne's team is showing signs of clicking at just the right time. Dwight Buycks scored 23 points to lead a balanced attack and Tulsa put together a critical 16-4 fourth-quarter run on its way to a 106-97 win over the East Conference-leading Springfield Armor in an NBA Development League clash on Friday night inside the Tulsa Convention Center. After battling back from a 13-point second-half deficit, Springfield's Dennis Horner would connect on a jumper to give the Armor an 86-83 edge with 6:49 left. Tulsa, however, would answer with a 9-0 burst, including a 3-pointer from Buycks, and would never trail again. "I felt like we had some guys who were getting tired and we brought some guys off the bench who gave us a spark," said Osbourne, who saw his team win its fourth-straight game. "The guys on this team have accepted their roles and we have a lot of trust in those guys who come off the bench." Jerome Dyson added 20 points for Tulsa (20-22) as all five starters scored in double-figures. Additionally, former Oral Roberts forward Marcus Lewis, coming off the bench for the first time this season, added 16 points and a game-high 10 rebounds. Springfield (22-17) took a quick 4-2 lead on back-to-back jumpers by Jamar Brown and former Oklahoma State University guard JamesOn Curry, but that would be the Armor's last lead of the quarter. Tulsa reeled off a 6-0 run, including a four-point play by Robert Vaden, to grab the early momentum and put the 66ers in front. The Armor wouldn't lead again until early in the fourth quarter when a 10-0 run gave the visitors an 80-79 edge with 9:32 to play. Roster moves: Prior to Friday night's game, the Oklahoma City Thunder assigned forward Ryan Reid to the 66ers. This season, Reid has seen action in seven games with Oklahoma City, averaging 1.6 points in 3.4 minutes. Over two separate stints with the 66ers this year, Reid has seen action in 16 games (all starts) averaging 11.5 points, 8.1 rebounds, 1.4 assists and 32.4 minutes. The 66ers also reacquired forward and former ORU player Larry Owens, who had been waived earlier in the month due to injury. *Courtesy of www.tulsaworld.com
