Important game to mention about took place in Kuala Lumpur. First ranked Filipino Philippine Patriots (10-2) saved a 3-point victory on the road edging 3rd ranked Malaysian KL Dragons (7-5) 90-87 on Saturday evening. KL Dragons were ahead by 7 points after three quarters before a 26-16 charge of Philippine Patriots, which allowed them to win the game. They made 23-of-29 charity shots (79.3 percent) during the game. KL Dragons were plagued by 27 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a good game for American swingman Anthony Johnson (197-79, college: La-Lafayette, agency: Interperformances) who led his team to a victory with 34 points (!!!) and 8 rebounds. The other American import center Nakiea Miller (204-79, college: Iona) contributed with a double-double by scoring 19 points, 14 rebounds and 4 blocks for the winners. Filipino guard Patrick Cabahug (186) replied with 23 points and Filipino guard Chris Pacana (186-81) added 11 points, 10 rebounds and 6 assists in the effort for KL Dragons. Four KL Dragons players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Philippine Patriots have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 10-2 record. KL Dragons lost third consecutive game. They keep the third place with five games lost. Philippine Patriots will play against Singapore Slingers (#6) on the road in the next round where they are favorite. KL Dragons will play against Thailand Slammers in Bangkok and hope to get back on the winning track.
