Quarter-Finals Round 1: McGill - UBC 43-65

Date: March 17, 2012
The game was mostly controlled by UBC. McGill was better in fourth quarter 16-15. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated on the defensive end, holding McGill to just 6 points in third quarter. UBC held McGill to an opponent 18.3 percent shooting from the field compared to 37.1 percent accuracy of the winners. They outrebounded McGill 52-35 including 21 on the offensive glass. It was a very good performance for center Zara Huntley (188-89) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 18 points and 11 rebounds. Forward Kris Young (183-92) contributed with 7 points, 12 rebounds and 8 assists for the winners. Panamanian forward Anneth Him-Lazarenko (178) answered with 6 points and 7 rebounds and center Valerie L'Ecuyer (188) added 7 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for McGill. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games.
