Regular Season Round 25: Umana VE - Cimberio VA 71-63
Date: March 18, 2012
Rather predictable result when sixth ranked Umana Venezia (14-9) won against at home 8th ranked Cimberio Varese (12-12) 71-63 on Sunday. The hosts started the game with a very strong first quarter 20-11. But Cimberio Varese won third quarter 16-15. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. It was a very good performance for Polish center Szymon Szewczyk (209-82) who helped to win the game recording 20 points. American-Bulgarian point guard Kee Kee Clark (180-84, college: St.Peter's) contributed with 15 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. Four Umana Venezia players scored in double figures. Estonian forward Kristjan Kangur (201-82) answered with 15 points and 7 rebounds and Finnish guard Teemu Rannikko (188-80) added 13 points and 7 assists in the effort for Cimberio Varese. Cimberio Varese's coach tested ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Umana Venezia moved-up to third place, which they share with 3 other teams. Loser Cimberio Varese keeps the eighth position with 12 games lost. Umana Venezia will face bottom-ranked Novipiu CM (#17) in Casale in the next round which should be an easy win for them.
