Quarter-Finals Round 2: Panathinaikos - Maccabi T-A 92-94 OT

Heartbreaking thriller was played on Thursday night at OAKA arena in Athens. Maccabi Electra grabbed 92-94 OT win against the reigning Euroleague champion and tied the score to 1-1 in the series. Thanks to this victory Maccabi secured two games at its home court in Tel Aviv. Keith Langford led the Israeli powerhouse with 17 points and David Blue had one less than him. Devin Smith (9 rebs) and Yogev Ohayon (5 resb, 5 as) helped with 15 points each. In PAO, Kostas Kaimakoglou answered with 20 points. Mike Batiste had 16 pts, 9 rebs and 6 assists, while Dimitris Diamantidis added 12 points, 6 assists and 5 boards. Maccabi was 10-points up at the beginning of the last quarter, but PAO responded with 15-8 run and later tied the score to 81-81 with 1:10 to go. David Blu made a jump shot for Maccabi and Batiste walked in the paint, but Dimitris Diamantidis rescued the hosts with a blocked shot and Kaimakoglou went to the line with 13.2 seconds remaining and sank both free throws to tie the game at 83-83. A busted Maccabi play ended with Langford making a desperate jumper, but it was after the buzzer and the game went to overtime. Teams were tied at 90-90 and the halfway of OT, after what Batiste made a short jumper and Blu drained a huge three at the other side for 92-93 with 29.8 seconds to go. Sarunas Jasikevicius missed a quick jumper and Keith Langford was sent to the line immediately. He made only one and PAO had the last chance with 18.3 seconds remaining, but Diamantidis missed from three, then Saras missed from two and Maccabi raced off the court with the win. Quarters: 24-20, 19-21, 15-20, 25-22, 9-11 OT. Teams will meet again next Tuesday in Tel Aviv. Game Four is scheduled for Thursday.
