Second Stage Round 5: Stelmet ZG - Energa Czarni 83-75

The game between Top Four teams took place in Zielona Gora. Third ranked host Zastal ZG (3-2) defeated 4th placed Energa Czarni (2-3) 83-75. Energa Czarni was trailing by 1 point at halftime but managed to get 8-point lead after three quarters before a 36-20 charge of Zastal ZG, which allowed them to win the game. They made 26-of-33 free shots (78.8 percent) during the game. The best player for the winners was Ivorian-Puerto Rican point guard Walter Hodge (183-86, college: Florida) who scored 21 points and 8 assists. American center Kirk Archibeque (205-84, college: Fort Lewis) chipped in 14 points and 9 rebounds. Five Zastal ZG players scored in double figures. American point guard Stanley Burrell (190-84) produced 22 points and 6 assists (was perfect 10-for-10 from the free throw line !!!) and Canadian center Scott Morrison (212-86, college: Portland St.) added 12 points respectively for the guests. Zastal ZG moved-up to second place in Group A, which they share with Trefl Sopot. Energa Czarni lost third consecutive game. They keep the fourth position with three games lost. They share it with Anwil. Zastal ZG will meet at home PGE Turow (#6) in the next round. Energa Czarni will play against the league's second-placed Trefl Sopot and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
