Regular Season Round 5: HBS Bank Hawks - Nelson G. 94-88 OT

Bay Hawks (5-0) outlasted Nelson G. (2-2) in overtime by six points 94-88 on Saturday night. The hosts trailed by 8 points at the halftime before their 21-12 charge in the third quarter, which allowed them to tie the game at the end of regular time. They were better in overtime eventually winning that period 19-13. Bay Hawks looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. International guard Everard Bartlett (198-86) stepped up and scored 21 points and 5 assists for the winners and the former international guard Paora Winitana (196-76) chipped in 14 points and 8 rebounds. Five Bay Hawks players scored in double figures. The former international guard Phill Jones (196-74) responded with 39 points (!!!) and 4 assists (was perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line) and American forward Pete Campbell (201-84, college: Butler) scored 14 points and 7 rebounds. Despite that victory Bay Hawks went down to first position due to points difference. Nelson G. at the other side dropped to the fifth place with two games lost. Bay Hawks will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Nelson G. will play on the road against Taranaki MA (#7) in New Plymouth and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
