Second Stage Round 6: Stelmet ZG - PGE Turow 87-83

There was no surprise in Zielona Gora where 6th ranked PGE Turow (1-5) was defeated by third ranked Zastal ZG (4-2) 87-83 on Saturday. The hosts trailed by 1 point at the halftime before their 27-21 charge in the third quarter, which allowed them to win the game. Zastal ZG made 29-of-32 free shots (90.6 percent) during the game. PGE Turow was plagued by 27 personal fouls down the stretch. The best player for the winners was Ivorian-Puerto Rican point guard Walter Hodge (183-86, college: Florida) who scored 33 points (!!!) and 4 assists. The former international forward Piotr Stelmach (205-84, college: Mississippi St., agency: BeoExcell) chipped in 12 points, 7 rebounds and 7 assists. At the other side the best for losing team was Australian-Dutch center Daniel Kickert (208-83, college: St.Mary's, CA) who recorded 21 points and American guard Arthur Lee (185-77, college: Stanford, agency: Interperformances) added 12 points and 5 assists respectively. PGE Turow's coach Jacek Winnicki tried various players' combinations and tested in total twelve players in this game, but that didn't help. Zastal ZG keeps a position of Group A leader, which they share with Asseco Prokom and Trefl Sopot. Loser PGE Turow keeps the sixth place with five games lost. Zastal ZG will face league's leader Asseco Prokom in Gdynia in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. PGE Turow will play at home against Energa Czarni (#5) in Slupsk and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
