Second Stage Round 7: VICI Aistes - TTT Riga 92-52

An interesting game for Lithuanian VICI-Aistes (4-2) which hosted in Kaunas 3rd placed Latvian TTT Riga (3-3). First ranked VICI-Aistes had an easy win 92-52. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of TTT Riga. It was a key game for the top position in the league. The game without a history. VICI-Aistes led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 50 of its points in the paint compared to TTT Riga's 24 and made 21-of-26 charity shots (80.8 percent) during the game. They outrebounded TTT Riga 45-20 including a 36-14 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was a great evening for Canadian guard Courtnay Pilypaitis (185-88, college: Vermont) who led her team to a victory scoring 16 points, 6 rebounds, 8 assists and 4 steals. Latvian power forward Aija Putnina (192-88, agency: Josep and Nicolas) helped adding 8 points and 10 rebounds. At the losing side center Liga Surkusa (194-91) responded with 14 points and 7 rebounds and swingman Ieva Krastina (175-90, agency: LBM Management) scored 14 points. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Defending Lithuanian champion maintains first place with 4-2 record, which they share with Olimpia. Defending Latvian champion TTT Riga dropped to the second position with three games lost. They share it with Minsk-2006.
