Hod Hasharon (13-12) outlasted Ironi Nes-Ziona (14-11) in overtime by three points 94-91 on Tuesday night. It ended at the same time the five-game winning streak of Ironi Nes-Ziona. The hosts trailed by 8 points after first quarter, but they rallied back and won the game in overtime by 3 points. Hod Hasharon made 25-of-31 free shots (80.6 percent) during the game. They also forced 20 Ironi Nes-Ziona turnovers. Ironi Nes-Ziona was plagued by 27 personal fouls down the stretch. American forward Anthony Johnson (203-88, college: Fairfield) stepped up and scored 30 points and 9 rebounds (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field) for the winners and Puerto Rican point guard Javier Gonzalez (182-89, college: N.Carolina St.) chipped in 24 points, 8 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals. At the losing side naturalized Welsh forward Tal Michael Dunne (197-87) responded with a double-double by scoring 25 points and 11 rebounds and American forward Gabe Blair (203-87, college: Wichita St.) produced a double-double by scoring 24 points and 12 rebounds. Five Hod Hasharon and four Ironi Nes-Ziona players scored in double figures. Hod Hasharon moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Kiryat Tivon. Ironi Nes-Ziona at the other side keeps the fourth position with 11 games lost. Hod Hasharon will face Ironi Kiryat Ata (#11) on the road in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Ironi Nes-Ziona will play against Elitzur Ramla (#9).
