Regular Season Round 15: Saigon H. - Satria Muda 88-86

The most exciting game of round 15 in the ASEAN League took place in Saigon. This derby game ended with only two-point defeat on the road of 4th placed Indonesian Satria Muda (7-9) to seventh ranked Vietnamese Saigon Heat (6-9) 88-86 on Wednesday evening. Satria Muda was trailing by 2 points at halftime but managed to get 4-point lead after three quarters before a 26-20 charge of Saigon Heat, which allowed them to win the game. The best player for the winners was American forward Jahmar Thorpe (198-84, college: Houston) who scored 23 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists. His fellow American import center Jonathan Jones (211-79, agency: TSS Management) chipped in a double-double by scoring 19 points and 15 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was American power forward Steve Thomas (204-81, college: Middle Tenn.St.) who recorded a double-double by scoring 21 points, 14 rebounds and 5 assists and Jerick Uy added 10 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists respectively. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Saigon Heat have a solid series of three victories in a row. They moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Singapore S. Satria Muda at the other side keeps the fourth position with nine games lost. Saigon Heat will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Satria Muda will play at home against KL Dragons (#3) in Kuala Lumpur and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
