Second Stage Round 7: Anwil - Trefl Sopot 54-67

An interesting game for Trefl Sopot (5-2) which played road game in Wloclawek against 4th placed Anwil (3-4). Second ranked Trefl Sopot managed to get a 13-point victory 67-54. Anwil was ahead by 8 points at the halftime before a 39-18 second half run of Trefl Sopot. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Anwil to just 6 points in third quarter. It was a great evening for American power forward John Turek (205-83, college: Nebraska) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 11 rebounds. The former international guard Lukasz Koszarek (187-84) helped adding 13 points, 8 rebounds and 7 assists. At the losing side naturalized Bosnian forward Seid Hajric (203-83) responded with 10 points and 9 rebounds and American forward Lawrence Kinnard (202-86, college: UAB) scored 13 points and 5 rebounds. Four Anwil players scored in double figures. Anwil's coach Krzysztof Szablowski rotated eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Trefl Sopot keeps a position of Group A leader, which they share with Asseco Prokom. Anwil at the other side keeps the fourth place with four games lost. Trefl Sopot will play against PGE Turow (#6) in Zgorzelec in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Anwil will play on the road against Zastal ZG in Zielona Gora and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
