The game between closely ranked teams ended with fifth ranked Guaiqueries' (18-15) home victory over 6th ranked Bucaneros (14-15) in Porlamar 83-56 on Tuesday. The game was mostly controlled by Guaiqueries. Bucaneros was better in third quarter 20-18. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. It was a good game for American guard Marcus Elliott (191-84, college: Louisiana Tech) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 15 points and 11 rebounds. The former international center Richard Lugo (209-73, college: St.Francis, NY) contributed with 12 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. Four Guaiqueries players scored in double figures. American forward Marcus Landry (201-85, college: Wisconsin) answered with 11 points and 6 rebounds and the former international power forward Luis Julio (201-80) added 7 points in the effort for Bucaneros. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Guaiqueries moved-up to third place, which they share with Trotamundos. Bucaneros lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the seventh position with 15 games lost. Guaiqueries will face again Bucaneros (#7) in La Guaira in the next round.
