Quarter-Finals Round 1: Bakersfield J. - Santa Cruz W. 107-94

Date: April 12, 2012
The Bakersfield Jam started the 2012 postseason with a 107-94 victory over the Dakota Wizards at the Jam Events Center on Thursday night. Brian Butch paced the Jam with a double-double of 32 points (12-of 19 from the field) and 15 rebounds. Bakersfield began the game dominating Dakota at both ends of the floor, scoring 12 unanswered points and, behind staggering defense from the Jam, forcing the Wizards to shoot tough shots as they missed their first seven field goal attempts of the game. However, Dakota fought back and were only down three points (22-19) after one period of play. Butch scored 13 of his season-high 32 points in the second quarter, helping the Jam increase their lead to 50-38 at intermission. Bakersfield maintained that double-digit lead for the rest of the game and increased it by as many as 23 points in the second half. The Jam extends their home-winning streak to nine games, and most importantly takes the series advantage. Jeremy Wise recorded 19 points and a team-high seven assists. Derrick Byars had 13 points, five rebounds, and three steals on the night. Trey Johnson contributed 11 points off the bench for the Jam. Mike Anderson led the way for the Wizards scoring 15 points off the bench. Stefhon Hannah finished with 14 points and eight assists, while Golden State Warriors assignee Chris Wright had 13 points and nine rebounds. Both teams will now travel to Dakota to play the remainder of the series. Game two will be played on Sunday, April 15 at 1:00 p.m. PT and if necessary, game three will be held on Monday, April 16 at 5:00 p.m. PT. Courtesy of D-League
