Second Stage Round 3: Grodno-93 - Tsmoki-Minsk 89-98

An interesting game for Minsk-2006 (26-1) which played road game in Grodno against second-best Grodno-93 (23-4). First ranked Minsk-2006 managed to get a 9-point victory 98-89. It looked good early as Grodno-93 took an 1-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Minsk-2006 had a 27-20 second period charge getting the lead and Grodno-93 was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 89-98. Minsk-2006 made 19-of-24 charity shots (79.2 percent) during the game. Grodno-93 was plagued by 28 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a great evening for American guard Bobby Maze (191-86, college: Tennessee) who led his team to a victory scoring 25 points and 6 assists. International guard Aliaksandr Kudrautsau (190-80) helped adding 23 points. Four Minsk-2006 players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was the former international guard Dzmitry Kuzmin (196-75) with 29 points and 5 assists (went 9 for 9 at the free throw line !!!) and the former international forward Kanstantin Yafremov (202-86) scored 9 points. Grodno-93's coach Andrei Vasileuka rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Defending champion maintains first place in League with 26-1 record. Grodno-93 at the other side keeps the second position with four games lost. Minsk-2006 will play against Rubon (#3) in Vitebsk in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Grodno-93 will play on the road against Minsk-2006 II and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
