Regular Season Round 16: Satria Muda - KL Dragons 98-80

An exciting game between Top Four teams was played in Jakarta. Third ranked Indonesian Satria Muda faced one of their biggest challengers Malaysian KL Dragons. Host Satria Muda (8-9) defeated guests from Kuala Lumpur (7-9) 98-80. The game was mostly controlled by Satria Muda. KL Dragons managed to win third quarter 27-23. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded KL Dragons 48-26 including a 36-20 advantage in defensive rebounds. Worth to mention a great performance of American power forward Steve Thomas (204-81, college: Middle Tenn.St.) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 17 points and 22 rebounds (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field) and Filipino-American point guard Stanley Pringle (184-87, college: Penn St.) who added 24 points and 6 assists during the contest. At the losing side American forward Jonathan Smith (206-82, college: Bowie St.) responded with a double-double by scoring 21 points and 10 rebounds and his fellow American import forward Tiras Wade (200-81, college: La-Lafayette, agency: Interperformances) scored 22 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Satria Muda maintains third position with 8-9 record having four points less than leader Philip.Patriots. KL Dragons lost eighth consecutive game. They keep the fourth place with nine games lost. Satria Muda will meet league's leader Philippine Patriots in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. KL Dragons will play against Saigon Heat and hope to secure a win.
