Regular Season Round 26: Maccabi T-A - Hapoel Holon 80-70

Leader Maccabi T-A delivered the twentieth first victory on Sunday night. This time they beat 5th ranked Hapoel Holon (13-11) 80-70 in Tel-Aviv. The game was mostly controlled by Maccabi T-A. Hapoel Holon managed to win second period 18-14. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Hapoel Holon to just 7 points in first quarter. Maccabi T-A looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. International power forward Lior Eliyahu (206-85, agency: Z.A.G. - Law Offices) scored 19 points and 9 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and American swingman Keith Langford (193-83, college: Kansas) chipped in 18 points and 6 rebounds during the contest. American power forward Bryant Dunston (202-86) responded with 15 points and 7 rebounds (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field) and his fellow American import forward Tasmin Mitchell (201-86, college: LSU) scored 13 points and 6 rebounds. Four Hapoel Holon players scored in double figures. Maccabi T-A (21-2) have an impressive nine-game winning streak. Defending champion maintains first position. Loser Hapoel Holon keeps the fifth place with 11 games lost. Maccabi T-A will meet at home Ironi Ashkelon (#7) in the next round where they are favorite. Hapoel Holon will play against the league's second-placed Galil Gilboa and hope to secure a win.
