One of the most interesting games of round 16 was a derby match between two teams from Thailand. Seventh ranked Bangkok Cobras won against visiting Thailand Slammers (5-12) 83-78. Thailand Slammers were ahead by 2 points after three quarters before a 25-18 charge of Bangkok Cobras, which allowed them to win the game. They made 18-of-23 charity shots (78.3 percent) during the game. Thailand Slammers were plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. Worth to mention a great performance of American power forward Gentry Lewis (206-81, college: Philander Smith) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 13 points and 13 rebounds. Filipino guard Jai Reyes (173) contributed with 18 points and 4 assists for the winners. Lewis is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Five Bangkok Cobras players scored in double figures. American center Christopher Garnett (211-80, college: Indiana SE) replied with 22 points and 9 rebounds and his fellow American import forward Calvin Williams (206-87, college: SE Missouri St.) added 19 points and 9 rebounds in the effort for Thailand Slammers. Thailand Slammers' coach tried various players' combinations and tested in total eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Bangkok Cobras (6-9) moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Singapore S. and Saigon H. Thailand Slammers lost fourth consecutive game. They stay at the bottom position with 12 games lost. Bangkok Cobras will play against Singapore Slingers (#5) on the road in the next round. Thailand Slammers will play against the league's second-placed Petron Blaze in Manila and hope to get back on the winning track.
