Quarter-Finals Round 2: Santa Cruz W. - Bakersfield J. 91-93

Date: April 15, 2012
Maurice Baker's last second shot bounced off the rim and the visiting Bakersfield Jam completed the series sweep over Dakota with a 93-91 victory. Bakersfield advances to the second round to face the Los Angeles D-Fenders. Chris Wright led the way for the Wizards finishing with a double-double, scoring 20 points and grabbing 12 rebounds. Bakersfield jumped all over Dakota to start the game leading 17-7 half way through the first quarter. The Jam took advantage of the Wizards poor shooting closing out the quarter with a 33-23 lead. Bakersfield built their lead to 14 on a Trey Johnson basket, but Dakota would battle and finish the quarter on a 10-2 run to cut the lead to six (45-51) at the half. Shy Ely brought the Wizards to within 2 on a lay-up with 4:36 remaining in the third. That would be the deficit at the end of the quarter as well with Bakersfield holding a slim 67-65 lead heading into the final quarter. Dakota took the lead on a Stefhon Hannah free-throw, but Derrick Byars answered with a three point basket to take the lead back, 87-85. The Wizards watched Baker's last second shot fall off the rim as time expired and Bakersfield sealed the 93-91 win. Edwin Ubiles filled the box score with 16 points, 8 rebounds, and 7 assists in the loss. Shy Ely came off the bench to score 11. Brian Butch led the way for the Jam recording a double-double with 12 points and 17 rebounds. Trey Johnson scored a game-high 24 points and grabbed 5 rebounds.
