No shocking result in a game when second ranked Tijuana Zonkeys (17-5) defeated at home bottom-ranked Coras de Tepic (1-21) 95-81 on Wednesday. The hosts trailed by 6 points at the halftime before their 48-28 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. Tijuana Zonkeys forced 23 Coras de Tepic turnovers. Point guard Luis Ramirez (180-82) scored 35 points (!!!) (perfect from the field making all nine shots !!!) to lead the charge for the winners and American swingman Marcus Morrison (198-84, college: Middle Tenn.St.) chipped in 15 points and 12 rebounds during the contest. Tijuana Zonkeys' coach Luis Lopez allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. At the losing side American forward Ray Reese (196-87, college: Tulsa, agency: David Lee services) responded with 26 points and 9 rebounds and Kavin Young scored 24 points and 7 rebounds. Tijuana Zonkeys have an impressive six-game winning streak. They maintain second position with 17-5 record behind leader Hermosillo, which they share with Guaymas. Coras de Tepic lost fourth consecutive game. They stay dead last with 21 lost games. Tijuana Zonkeys will meet Fuerza Guinda Nogales (#4) on the road in the next round. Coras de Tepic will play against Frayles de Guasave (#6).
