Rather predictable result in Humacao where fourth ranked Capitanes (13-9) beat bottom-ranked Caciques (6-18) 96-80 on Saturday. The game without a history. Capitanes led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 28 assists. The best player for the winners was American-Nigerian power forward Ike Diogu (204-83, college: Arizona St.) who had a double-double by scoring 30 points and 12 rebounds. The former international guard Rick Apodaca (193-80, college: Hofstra, agency: 360 Sports Management) chipped in 19 points and 4 assists. Capitanes' coach David Rosario used an eleven-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Mexican forward Noe Alonzo (200-83, college: Grand Canyon) produced 22 points and American forward Gilbert Brown (198-87, college: Pittsburgh, agency: VVG Sports) added 17 points and 4 assists (was perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line) respectively for the hosts. Four Caciques players scored in double figures. Capitanes have a solid series of three victories in a row. Defending champion maintains fourth place with 13-9 record. Caciques at the other side stay at the bottom position with 18 games lost. Capitanes will face league's leader Indios in Mayaguez in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Caciques will play at home against Vaqueros (#3) in Bayamon.
