Regular Season Round 33: NY Phantoms - EWE Baskets 99-85

Not a big story in a game when 11th ranked EWE Baskets (15-18) lost to ninth ranked New Yorker Phantoms (17-15) in Braunschweig 85-99 on Sunday. The game was mostly controlled by New Yorker Phantoms. EWE Baskets was better in fourth quarter 19-14. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. New Yorker Phantoms looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. EWE Baskets were plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a good game for American center Kyle Visser (211-85, college: Wake Forest) who led his team to a victory with 19 points and 6 rebounds (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field). Serbian forward Branko Jorovic (205-81, agency: Beo Basket) contributed with 17 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. American guard Rickey Paulding (196-82, college: Missouri, agency: Pro One Sports) answered with 20 points and 6 rebounds (went 9 for 9 at the free throw line !!!) and the other American import power forward Adam Chubb (208-81, college: Pennsylvania, agency: Pro One Sports) added 11 points and 10 rebounds in the effort for EWE Baskets. Four New Yorker Phantoms and five EWE Baskets players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. New Yorker Phantoms moved-up to seventh place, which they share with Telekom Baskets. Loser EWE Baskets keep the eleventh position with 18 games lost. New Yorker Phantoms will face higher ranked ALBA Berlin (#3) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. EWE Baskets will play against EnBW Ludwigsburg (#15).
