Regular Season Round 24: Bayamon - San German 86-94

The most important game in the last round took place in Bayamon between third ranked Vaqueros (15-11) and fifth ranked Atleticos (13-12) on Monday night. Vaqueros were defeated by Atleticos in a tough game at home 86-94. The guests started the game with a very strong first quarter 27-12. But Vaqueros won second period 28-21. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The game was decided in the last minutes when Atleticos won last quarter 28-22. Atleticos outrebounded Vaqueros 35-23 including 25 on the defensive glass. It was a great shooting night for Atleticos especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 57.1 percentage. Worth to mention a great performance of American forward Mike Harris (198-83, college: Rice) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 33 points (!!!) and 13 rebounds and Panamanian power forward Jose Lloreda (201-80, college: LSU, agency: Paris Global Sports) who added 18 points and 12 rebounds during the contest. Atleticos' coach Nelson Colon used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The best for the losing side was the former international guard Christian Dalmau (194-77, college: Daytona Beach CC, agency: Paris Global Sports) with 24 points and the former international guard Javier Mojica (190-84, college: Cent.Conn.St., agency: Paris Global Sports) scored 23 points. Four Atleticos and five Vaqueros players scored in double figures. Atleticos maintains fifth position with 13-12 record. Vaqueros at the other side keep the third place with 11 games lost. Atleticos are looking forward to face Brujos (#7) in Guayama in the next round. Vaqueros will play on the road against Capitanes (#4) in Arecibo and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
