Second Stage Round 3: Zwolle - Groningen 63-78

First loss of Zwolle (1-1) at the home court on Tuesday night. Hosts were defeated by Groningen (2-0) 78-63. The game was mostly controlled by Groningen. Zwolle managed to win fourth quarter 25-17. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Groningen looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists comparing to just 7 passes made by Zwolle's players. The best player for the winners was American guard Alex Wesby (196-80, college: Temple, agency: R.H.Consultancy) who scored 24 points (on 11-of-13 shooting from the field). His fellow American import guard David Bell (186-81) chipped in 17 points and 4 assists. Four Groningen players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was American guard Cameron Wells (185-88, college: Citadel, agency: Pro One Sports) who recorded 14 points and 5 rebounds and American-Ghanian forward Amu Saaka (198-88, college: Furman, agency: Pro One Sports) added 12 points and 7 rebounds respectively. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Groningen maintains first place in Group B with 2-0 record. Zwolle at the other side keeps the second position with one game lost. Groningen will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Zwolle will play at home against Nijmegen and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
