Rather predictable result when second ranked Filipino Philippine Patriots (15-5) won against 5th ranked Singapore Singapore Slingers (8-11) in Manila 90-84 on Saturday. The hosts trailed by 9 points after three quarters before their 37-22 charge, which allowed them to win the game. American players dominated the game. Swingman Anthony Johnson (197-79, college: La-Lafayette, agency: Interperformances) orchestrated the victory by scoring 26 points and 9 rebounds. Center Nakiea Miller (204-79, college: Iona) contributed with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 11 rebounds for the winners. Philippine Patriots' coach used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Center Kyle Jeffers (207-85, college: Oregon St.) replied with a double-double by scoring 30 points and 15 rebounds and power forward Louis Graham (205-84) added 20 points and 12 rebounds in the effort for Singapore Slingers. Philippine Patriots maintains second position with 15-5 record behind leader Petron Blaze. Singapore Slingers at the other side keep the fifth place with 11 games lost. Philippine Patriots are looking forward to face bottom-ranked Thailand Slammers (#8) in Bangkok in the next round where they are favorite. Singapore Slingers will play at home against Satria Muda in Jakarta and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
