Regular Season Round 31: Hermosillo - Guaymas 93-83

An interesting game for Rayos de Hermosillo (27-4) which hosted in Hermosillo their biggest opponent Ostioneros de Guaymas (24-7). First ranked Rayos de Hermosillo managed to get a 10-point victory 93-83. It ended at the same time the seven-game winning streak of Ostioneros de Guaymas. The game was mostly controlled by Rayos de Hermosillo. Ostioneros de Guaymas managed to win fourth quarter 29-21. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. It was an exceptional evening for naturalized American point guard Steve Monreal (180-86, college: CS Monterey) who led the winners and scored 33 points (!!!) and 8 assists. The former international forward Jesus Lopez (205-83, college: SW Baptist) accounted for 16 points and 9 rebounds for the winning side. American forward Jerome Habel (208-85, college: San Diego St.) came up with 17 points and 7 rebounds (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field) and the other American import point guard Myron Allen (182-79, college: Lee JC) added 15 points and 5 assists (made all of his nine free throws !!!) respectively for Ostioneros de Guaymas in the defeat. Four Rayos de Hermosillo and five Ostioneros de Guaymas players scored in double figures. Ostioneros de Guaymas' coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. The victory was the fifteenth consecutive win for Rayos de Hermosillo. They maintain first place with 27-4 record. Loser Ostioneros de Guaymas keep the second position with seven games lost. Rayos de Hermosillo will again meet at home league's second-placed Ostioneros de Guaymas in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Ostioneros de Guaymas will have a break next round.
