There was a small surprise when eighth ranked Caballeros de Culiacan (12-24) defeated at home 5th ranked Fuerza Guinda Nogales (17-19) 83-77 on Wednesday. The hosts started the game with a very strong first quarter 25-14. But Fuerza Guinda Nogales won second period 23-18. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The game was dominated by American players. The best player for the winners was forward Rob Robinson (203-87, college: Robert Morris, agency: SDJ Sports) who had a double-double by scoring 23 points and 10 rebounds. Swingman Rene Rougeau (198-86, college: UNLV, agency: ProSportsCareers) chipped in 15 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists. Four Caballeros de Culiacan players scored in double figures. Caballeros de Culiacan's coach Jonathan Meza used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the other side the best for losing team was swingman O'Louis McCullough (198-82, college: Francis Marion) who recorded a double-double by scoring 25 points and 10 rebounds and forward Keith Davis (198-82) added 21 points respectively. Caballeros de Culiacan maintains eighth position with 12-24 record, which they share with Navolato. Fuerza Guinda Nogales at the other side dropped to the seventh place with 19 games lost. Caballeros de Culiacan will face higher ranked Tijuana Zonkeys (#3) on the road in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game.
