Quarter-Finals Round 3: Spirou - Leuven 89-68

Date: May 19, 2012
The game was mostly controlled by Spirou Charleroi. Leuven Bears managed to win third quarter 27-18. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. 26 personal fouls committed by Leuven Bears helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. It was a good game for American guard Demond Mallet (186-78, college: McNeese St., agency: Higher Vision Sports) who led his team to a victory with 27 points. Czech forward Jiri Welsch (201-80) contributed with 17 points and 5 rebounds (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field) for the winners. Four Spirou Charleroi players scored in double figures. Naturalized American forward Ian Hanavan (202-80, college: Evansville, agency: Interperformances) answered with 19 points and 5 rebounds (went 8 for 8 at the free throw line) and American forward Jamel McLean (203-88, college: Xavier) added 8 points and 12 rebounds in the effort for Leuven Bears. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games.
