Quarter-Finals Round 1: Los Mochis - Cananea 104-102

The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 30-27. But Mineros de Cananea won second period 29-28. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Pioneros Los Mochis well out of reach of Mineros de Cananea shooting 78.4 percent from the field. They shot the lights out from three sinking 12 long-distance shots on high 63.2 percentage. Pioneros Los Mochis looked well-organized offensively handing out 30 assists. Americans were the main players on the court. Forward Devon Pearson (198-84, college: SMU) stepped up and scored 36 points (!!!) for the winners and guard William Funn (188-82, college: Portland St.) chipped in 17 points and 14 assists (perfect from the field making all six shots). Funn is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. At the losing side forward Derek Thomas (193-84, college: Appalachian St.) responded with 30 points and 5 assists (on 9-of-10 shooting from the field) and forward Rodney Alexander (201-87, college: Oklahoma City) scored 23 points. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures.
