Frayles de Guasave was tied at the half but could not keep up in last two quarters eventually losing the game. Tijuana Zonkeys dominated down low during the game scoring 68 of its points in the paint compared to Frayles de Guasave's 44 and made 23-of-27 charity shots (85.2 percent) during the game. They outrebounded Frayles de Guasave 45-25 including a 35-18 advantage in defensive rebounds. Tijuana Zonkeys players were unselfish on offense dishing 29 assists. American power forward Robert Hornsby (196-82, college: Troy) orchestrated the victory by scoring 27 points, 7 rebounds and 9 assists (was perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line). The other American import power forward Cyrus Tate (203-85, college: Iowa, agency: Edge Sports) contributed with a double-double by scoring 21 points and 13 rebounds for the winners. Tijuana Zonkeys' coach Luis Lopez felt very confident that he used 11 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American guard Russell Carter (196-85, college: Notre Dame) replied with 18 points and 4 assists and American-Libyan center Hiram Fuller (206-81, college: Fresno St.) added 15 points and 7 rebounds in the effort for Frayles de Guasave. Five Tijuana Zonkeys and four Frayles de Guasave players scored in double figures.
