The guests took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 23-19. But Pioneros Los Mochis won second period 18-15. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Rayos de Hermosillo had a 31-20 advantage in offensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was naturalized American point guard Steve Monreal (180-86, college: CS Monterey) who scored 16 points and 8 assists. American forward Emmanuel Little (196-85, college: N.Dakota) chipped in 6 points, 15 rebounds and 4 assists. Little is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Rayos de Hermosillo's coach Dan Tacheny used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the other side the best for losing team was American guard William Funn (188-82, college: Portland St.) who recorded a double-double by scoring 20 points, 7 rebounds, 10 assists and 5 steals and the other American import forward Seth Scott (208-81, college: Portland St.) added 21 points and 8 rebounds respectively. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures.
