Regular Season Round 11: Guangzhou FM - Henan Jiyuan 106-101

There was no surprise when 10th ranked Henan Jiyuan (1-10) was defeated on the road by fifth ranked Guangzhou FM (7-4) 106-101. However just five-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. After very bad start, Henan Jiyuan stormed back in the second period cutting the deficit to 1 point 49-48. But it was not enough and Guangzhou FM took back the control in second half. Guangzhou FM had a 35-24 advantage in offensive rebounds. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 22 assists. 30 personal fouls committed by Henan Jiyuan helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. It was an exceptional evening for American forward Walter Sharpe (206-86, college: UAB, agency: Two Points) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 19 points, 19 rebounds and 4 assists. Guard KaiFu Yao (196-83) accounted for 23 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists for the winning side. Four Guangzhou FM players scored in double figures. Nigerian center Kenny Adeleke (205-83, college: Hartford) came up with a double-double by scoring 38 points (!!!) and 34 rebounds and ZhanYu Wang (196-86) added 20 points and 4 assists respectively for Henan Jiyuan in the defeat. Guangzhou FM moved-up to third place, which they share with Hebei and Changan Group. Henan Jiyuan lost their ninth game in a row. They stay at the bottom position with ten games lost. Guangzhou FM's next round opponent will be Changan Group (#4). Henan Jiyuan will play against Hebei (#5).
