Date: June 11, 2012
Sixth game of TBL Finals between Besiktas and Anadolu Efes just ended. The hosts celebrated 80-76 victory and won the championship title for season 2011/12. This is third trophy for Besiktas this year as they already celebrated in Turkish Cup and EuroChallenge. Anadolu Efes was tied after three quarters but could not keep up in the last quarter eventually losing the game. 26 personal fouls committed by Anadolu Efes helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. The best player for the winners was Puerto Rican guard Carlos Arroyo (188-G-79, college: FIU) who scored 18 points, 5 rebounds and 8 assists. Zoran Erceg (210-C/F-85) and Ersin Dagli (203-F/C-81, agency: Interperformances, college: Alabama) helped with 15 points each. Five Besiktas players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was the former international guard Kerem Tunceri (190-79) who recorded 22 points and 4 assists and American guard Oliver Lafayette (188-84, college: Houston) added 13 points and 5 assists respectively. Anadolu Efes' coach Ilias Zouros rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Besiktas was the fourth ranked team of the regular season with 22-8 record. They eliminated defending champion Fenerbahce Ulker in the Playoff Quarterfinals with perfect 2-0. In the Semis, Besiktas edged regular season champ Galatasaray with 3-1. Last time Besiktas was champion of Turkey in 1975.
