There was a surprise result when ninth ranked Heilongjiang (5-8) edged at home 4th placed Hebei (8-5) 109-106 on Tuesday. The hosts trailed by 6 points at the halftime before their 28-16 charge in the third quarter, which allowed them to win the game. Heilongjiang looked well-organized offensively handing out 29 assists comparing to just 15 passes made by Hebei's players. Hebei was plagued by 27 personal fouls down the stretch. American power forward Rashaun Freeman (206-84, college: Massachusetts) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 44 points (!!!), 22 rebounds and 8 assists for the winners and forward JunXiong Zhang (204-85) chipped in 22 points. At the losing side American forward Bryan Davis (206-86, college: Texas A&M, agency: N.E.T.) responded with 26 points, 6 rebounds and 6 blocks and guard ZhiTong Yin (195-86) scored 24 points. Four Hebei players scored in double figures. Heilongjiang moved-up to seventh place, which they share with Nanjin Army. Loser Hebei dropped to the third position with five games lost. Heilongjiang will face bottom-ranked Henan Jiyuan (#10) in the next round. Hebei will play against Hong Kong (#6).
