Cuba reaches the Final at the 2012 Centrobasket in Morovis. The team overcame Mexico 86:42 in the Semifinal to face the hosts in the Final game. Cuba started with 22-9 lead and never looked behind after. Mexico however managed to win the second period 16-13, but could not stay tough. Cuba erupted with 26-8 surge in the third quarter and reached 61:32 after three quarters. Moreover they added 25-9 in the last stanza to win the Semifinal clash. Oquendo and Avila top-scored for the winners with 18 points each. Amargo netted 13, while Cepeda collected 11 points and 12 rebounds. Gonzalez Frida ended up with 9 in defeat, whilst Garcia Abril and Nunez Laura posted 7 each.
