Preliminary Round Day 3: COLOMBIA - PUERTO RICO 72-65

Colombia celebrated the first win at the U18 Fiba Americas Championship. They fired past Puerto Rico for 1-2 record in Group B. Kevin Cuesta notched 22 points and 8 rebounds in the winning case. Colombia limited their opponents to 14 points in the opening quarter to surge ahead. They posted an 18:14 lead at the first intermission. Puerto Rico adjusted their offence in the second term. They poured in 27 points in the period to surge ahead for a 41:40 halftime lead. The teams stayed neck and neck throughout the third term. Puerto Rico entered the final period up by a single point 52:51. But Colombia turned things in their favour in the final period. They went on a 21:13 run to seal the victory at the end. Tonny Trocha posted 16 points and 13 rebounds, while Brian Angola had 9 points in the victory. Alexander Curet replied with 12 points for Puerto Rico. David Rosado had 10 points in the loss.
