Mexico successfully starts the campaign of Centrobasket 2012. The team overcame Virgin Islands 75:67 for 1-0 record. Mexico opened the game with 17:16 but later started to increase the lead. They added 22-10 in the second period and led 39:26 at the halftime. Virgin Islands meanwhile responded with 17-14 in the third period and trailed 10 points after 30 minutes in the court. They produced a 24-22 last stanza win to reduce to 8. Stoll led the way with 23 points and Ayon collected 22 points and 15 rebounds. Hodge Walter replied with 18 points in defeat, while Edwin Jason collected 14 points and 11 boards. Aska had 10 points and 10 rebounds, whilst Brown Aaron added 8. In Day 2 Mexico will face off with Dominican Republic and Virgin Islands will play against Jamaica.
