Finals Game 5: MEXICO - PUERTO RICO 75-73

Mexico finished their U18 Fiba Americas Championship campaign on a high note. They claimed a tough two-point win over Puerto Rico. Jose Estrada came up with 28 points to lead the winners. Puerto Rico got to a strong start. They eased to a 23:12 lead ten minutes into the game. But Mexico responded almost immediately. They went on a 24:13 run in the second quarter to draw things level at 36. Mexico slowly regained the lead. They fired 25 points in the third quarter to accumulate a 6-point lead before the fourth term. Puerto Rico worked hard to deny the deficit but Mexico hung on to snatch a difficult win at the end. Gabriel Vazquez chipped in 13 points, while Kevin Lagunas produced 11 points and pulled down 15 boards in the win. Jerome Caraballo replied with 13 points for Puerto Rico. Wilfredo Rodriguez netted 11 points in the losing effort.
