Sichuan secured the opening win in the quarterfinal series versus Guangzhou FM. The visitors trailed by 12 points at halftime and as many as 18 after three quarters before a 26-15 last quarter charge cut the deficit to 75-82 at the end of the game. Sichuan outrebounded Guangzhou FM 54-41 including 39 on the defensive glass. American power forward David Palmer (206-86, college: N.Kentucky) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 31 points and 19 rebounds for the winners and center XiaoDong Chen (207-86) chipped in 23 points and 13 rebounds. At the losing side American forward Walter Sharpe (206-86, college: UAB, agency: Two Points) responded with a double-double by scoring 26 points and 13 rebounds and guard SongWei Wu (192-79) scored 19 points.
