Brazil won over Australia in London in the opener of Group B at Olympics 2012. The Brazilian team outscored Australia 75:71 at the Basketball Arena. Although Australia won the opening period 20-19, they could not stay tough against the opponents. Brazil replied with 17-15 in the second period and took 36:35 at the halftime. Later on Brazil dominated the court starting the third period with 6-0 run. BARBOSA scored for 52:39, while Australia cut it to 52:47 after an 8-0 run. VAREJAO again increased to 10 points early in the fourth and he later scored for 67:62. Ingles reduced to 73:71, but Huertas was perfect from the free throw line at the end of the game. BARBOSA top-scored for the winners with 16 points and Huertas collected 15 points and 10 assists. VAREJAO nailed 12, while Hilario posted 8. Mills ended up with 20 points in the losing effort and Ingles notched 15. Andersen poured in 14, while Baynes delivered 10.
