USA claimed the opening win at the Olympic Games basketball tournament. They knocked down France in London. Kevin Durant scored 22 points and grabbed 9 rebounds to pace the winners. USA and France stayed close throughout the opening frame. The North American side managed a one-point lead at the first break 22:21. Team USA shifted the gear in the second quarter. They ignited an 11:0 run to clear off. USA capped the first half with four points in a row to take a 52:36 halftime lead. Chandler gave USA a 60:38 lead early in the third term. They maintained it posting a 78:51 cushion heading into the fourth stanza. Kevin Durant and Kevin Love ensured an 82:53 lead early in the final period and Team USA cruised to the victory from there on. Kevin Love posted 14 points, while Kobe Bryant finished with 10 points for Team USA. Ali Traore answered with 12 points for France. Tony Parker had 10 points in the loss.
