Preliminary Round Day 2: UNITED KINGDOM - BRAZIL 62-67

The Great Britain put up a courageous performance on Tuesday night, but lost to Brazil 62:67 at the Olympic Basketball Arena in London. The Brazilian team improved to 2-0 record, while the hosts fell at 0-2. It was a great start of the home side that erupted with the defensive 11-4 lead and limited the guests only to 2 successful shots. Brazil woke up in the second frame and replied with 23-16 for 27:27 at the halftime. The teams were tied three times in the third period, while Barbosa and VAREJAO closed the frame at 48:43. REINKING nailed three early in the fourth period for 51:50 and Deng made 57:56 midway through the period. Brazil however managed to win the game as they dominated the end of the quarter. SPLITTER top-scored for the winners with 21 points and HUERTAS notched 13. VAREJAO and VIEIRA followed them with 8 points apiece. Mensah and REINKING poured in 13 points each in the losing effort. Deng notched 12, while Clark finished the night with 9.
