France opened win count at the Olympic basketball tournament. They knocked down Argentina A to improve at 1-1 record. Argentina in the meantime suffered the first defeat and slipped at 1-1 record. Tony Parker nailed 17 points to lead the charge. France surged ahead in the opening quarter. They posted a 19:12 lead ten minutes into the game. Argentina quickly denied the deficit in the second quarter. France however did not allow the Latin American team to spur ahead staying in front. Les Bleus accounted for a 32:29 halftime lead. Luis Luis Scola and Prigioni finally gave Argentina a 43:42 lead midway through the third term. But Mickael Gelabale answered with a three-pointer and France rolled to a 55:53 lead with ten minutes remaining. Tony Parker triggered a 7:0 run from Les Bleus as they gained a 67:58 advantage with just over three minutes remaining. Seraphin and Tony Parker accounted for four points in the dying minutes and France survived the challenge to celebrate victory at the end. Nicolas Batum posted 14 points, 7 rebounds and 3 assists, while Mickael Gelabale added 13 points for the winning side. Emanuel Ginobili responded with 26 points for Argentina. Luis Scola had 16 points and 8 rebounds in the loss.
