Preliminary Round Day 2: RUSSIA - POLAND 69-64

Russia recorded the second straight win at the U18 European Championship. They held off Polish counterparts to improve at 2-0 record in Group D. Mikhail Kulagin stepped up with 21 points and 8 rebounds to lead the charge. Poland slipped at 0-2 record. Russia grabbed a 17:14 lead ten minutes into the game. They maintained the advantage throughout the second quarter. Russia secured a 36:31 halftime advantage. Russia boosted the lead in the third quarter. They led by 7 points before Poland denied the deficit and drew things level at 38. Russia recovered and restored the lead. They entered the final period up by 9 points 54:45. Poland kept intrigue alive as they cut the distance to just two points 64:66 with 19 seconds to go. However Mikhail Kulagin and Krechetov knocked down three free throws in the dying seconds to finalize victory for Russia. Stanislav Ilnitskiy delivered 19 points, while Rostislav Karenin added 8 points for the winners. Mikolaj Witlinski answered with 20 points for Poland. Jakub Schenk and Kacper Borowski had 11 points each in the loss.
