Preliminary Round Day 3: SLOVENIA - POLAND 69-63

Slovenia registered the first win at the U18 European Championship. They overcame Poland in the crucial game for both teams at the preliminary round. The victory allowed Slovenia to stay in the title race. Poland slipped at 0-3 record and fell into the relegation round. Tomaz Bolcina posted 22 points and grabbed 8 rebounds for the winners. Poland jumped to an early lead. They established a 23:12 lead at the first break. But Slovenia silenced their opponents in the second quarter. They ignited a 28:8 run to secure a 9-point halftime lead. Poland cut the deficit in the third stanza. They got within 6 points at the final intermission 48:51. Sovenia and Poland exchanged baskets throughout the final term. Poland cut the distance to 3 points with one minute remaining. But Matic Rebec and Nikolic hit five free throws in the dying stages to seal the victory at the end. Matic Rebec notched 21 points and 8 assists, while Gregor Hrovat added 10 points for the winning side. Kacper Radwanski responded with 17 points for Poland. Mikolaj Witlinski and Kacper Borowski had 12 points apiece in the loss.
