Preliminary Round Day 2: CANADA - PUERTO RICO 58-43

Very valuable win for Canada against the host of U18 FIBA Americas championship. Canada handed 58-43 loss to Puerto Rico joining them with 1-1 record in Group B. Both teams have a chance to reach the Semifinals, but everything will be clear later today. Third quarter was the crucial one in this meeting. Teams were tied at 31-31 at the HT and Canada exploded with 19-7 for the next ten minutes, after what Puerto Rico was not able to reply. Quarters: 18-17, 13-14, 19-7, 8-5. Paige Crozon paced Canada with 18 points and 6 rebounds. Michelle Hudyn had 10 points and 10 rebs, while Samatha Cooper also scored 10 pts, but to go with 6 boards. Krystal Luciano collected 11 points and 9 rebs in defeat. Sidney Santos (5 rebs) and Paila Crespo posted 6 pts each. Today is the last day of the Preliminary Round in Gurabo. Canada will play against Mexico and Puerto Rico will take on top-ranked Brazil.
