Mexico avoided last place at U18 FIBA Americas Championship in Gurabo. They blasted Dominican Republic 64-33 in the last day of the competition and it was a game for the seventh place. Mexico took control on its rival from the very beginning and never looked back. Quarters: 14-5, 25-7, 11-13, 14-8. Myriam Lara led the winners with 14 points and 10 rebounds. Maria Morales scored 12 points and Maria Faz added 10 pts, plus 9 boards. In defeat, Cheisy Hernandez was better than the others with 12 points. Libia Peralta had 7 pts and 9 rebounds. USA defended the gold medal at this event. They handed 71-47 loss to Mexico in the Big Final. Argentina is the bronze medal winner.
