Preliminary Round Round 2: LEBANON - PHILIPPINES 68-78

Philippines clinched the first win at Fiba Asia Cup in Tokyo. They held off Lebanon to gain 1-1 record in Group A. Marcus Douthit stepped up with 25 points and 21 rebounds as Philippines caught up with Lebanon in the ladder. It was a tough battle from start to finish. Lebanon snatched a 20:19 lead ten minutes into the game. Lebanon stretched the margin in the second frame. They accounted for a 41:38 halftime lead. But Philippines turned things around in the third quarter. Marcus Douthit and Norwood put Philippines in front. They recorded a 59:53 lead at the final break. Garnett Thompson put Lebanon within two points midway through the final frame but Philippines quickly restored a safe cushion and never looked back en route to the win. Gary David and LA Tenorio provided 11 points each for the winners. Fadi Khatib answered with 24 points and 15 boards for Lebanon. Garnett Thompson had 17 points and 11 rebounds in the loss.
